Advanced Yoga Studies

New Advanced Yoga studies Class

6 week course $60 Mondays 6pm – 730pm

March 4- April 8 2019

 Course study will include:    Techniques: asanas*, pranayamas, meditation.Anatomy and Physiology: includes both physical anatomy and physiology (body systems, organs, ect.) and astral/energy/subtle anatomy and physiology. Philosophy and history of yoga. Independent study. Personal yoga practice.

*asanas (postures) will be grouped into nine sections: standing poses, sitting poses, twists, prone and supine poses, inverted poses, balancing, backbends, jumping, and relaxation. Each section will include workbook module and class practice.

Week 1

Introduction to Hatha yoga, history of yoga,,Anatomy of movement, basic asana practice. .Asana practice- moving from within your core. Sanskrit- “understanding the movement within the name”,Anatomy - structure and function. Asana module review.

 Week 2          Asana practice - standing postures, balance review

 Week 3          Asana practice – inversions, prone and supine asanas,

Week 4          Asana practice – Safety in Back bends, Meditation – pranayamas,

Week 5   Asana practice -sitting poses, twists, Meditation

Week 6   Asana practice - Building a personal practice. Vinyasa, flowing asana presentation. 


Wednesday 9 am

Hatha Yoga

Slower pace. Focuses on classic postures and correct alignment in the body. 


Saturday 9 am

Hatha Yoga

Faster pace, aerobic. Promotes deep and even breathing.
